"...a small black button..."

It's a warm, wonderful day in Jerusalem. A great day for friends to meet at any of the many sidewalk cafes to sit, chat and enjoy life.

The environment is friendly and the air is filled with small talk and laughter.

Little children with scrubbed shiny cheeks, giggle and play, enjoying a sunny day with loving parents.

A young lady, maybe 19 years old, enters, finds a table, sits down, and orders a latte.

Unobtrusively, the young woman slowly unbuttons her jacket. Her hand moves to her waist. Her thumb locates a small black button, she stands, screams "ALLAH BE PRAISED!" and presses it!

The late edition news reports the maiming of 17 innocent people and 5 killed by a fanatically religious, islamic "suicide bomber." Two of those killed were children with "scrubbed shiny cheeks!"

The "bomber" was the end result of religious brainwashing.

For every waking hour from birth, she was taught that allah would reward her handsomely and she would be greeted in heaven as a hero if she gave her life destroying "infidels."

The bomber prayed 5 times a day for "god" to be in her life. The same "god" christians and jews believe in!

It is not the duty of parents to inundate a childs mind with their religious beliefs. In fact, that would be an absurd act of abuse.

Attending bible study and worship is the same kind of brainwashing used by the taliban! It is NOT important or of value in a childs life!

A parents FIRST duty is to love a child...unconditionally! That love will be returned, in myriad ways, later in life!

Parents must express their love by intelligently and caringly exposing a child, from infancy, to education and to the real world!

When that child matures, it will be prepared to make correct decisions about abstract concepts such as love and religion.

Showing love in that manner will prepare a child to become a happy, successful and contributing human being!

I can guarantee that that child will not resort to "fanaticism" in any form or fashion!

I believe the indoctrination of children to be one of the greatest crimes possible. People must be allowed to attain awareness through experience in the real world.

Hey...wait, when did this happen? I see a lot of resemblance here to something else I've done..though you've pulled it off with more substance. ;)

I couldn't agree more. At the heart of all this fanaticism is a sense of deprivation - a lack of a normal, dogma-free childhood... where children are simply allowed to grow up as children - without any hatred and prejudice fed into their vulnerable minds. I never blame the kids; it's the parent's influences and teachings that are the key. Anyway, thank you for sharing this... I always love reading your thoughts. Some people are just born thinkers - and you're one of them. (Btw. have linked your hub). Take care :)

At least suicide bombers are not repeat offenders! They don't usually reproduce first either. My favorite author, Lee Child, wrote a book about suicide bombers and I paraphrased a lot of it for my hub http://hubpages.com/hub/suicide-bomber

Learn to recognize the signs!

Thank goodness they are "...not repeat offenders!"

I read your "Lee Child" hub.

Good info!
