"Fanaticism," the definition of stupidity!
46Logic has no status
(A re-worked hub)
Fanaticism is, of course, extremism and is dangerous to every living thing existing upon this planet.
Fanaticism is recognized by a monomaniac mind set of exaggerated proportion. Logic has no status. It is dogma compressed to the point of dementia. It serves no useful purpose because it rules out..."options."
Fanaticism, regardless of polarity, can only result in destruction.
The fanatic is not adaptable.
Survival is based upon adaptability, but to the fanatic, survival is not important enough to be considered. Survival cannot override the magnitude of his perverted sense of reality. He is willing to cease to exist and will, apathetically, destroy any who oppose him. He represents the antithesis of the basic laws of nature.
Fanaticism epitomizes the definition of stupidity!
Alone, the fanatic is probably not significant, he will eventually destroy himself, but history has proven that if allowed to become a substantial force, life within the sphere of influence of these fanatics is placed in profound jeopardy.
A perusal of ancient and modern history will provide the names of scores of fanatics who once ruled, destroyed and were themselves destroyed.
Until man can permanently rid himself of aboriginal ignorance, fanaticism will always find a fertile place within which to develop, be nurtured and survive.
Abominable religious fanaticism could provide the leaven necessary to create a cataclysmic nuclear pogrom which would change, unalterably, all life as it exists today.
It would certainly put an end to the short lived existence of modern man.
To paraphrase Einstein, the 4th world war will be fought with sticks and stones!

Morning Qwark,
With that said, I without a doubt believe we are doomed, I don't believe our species has a chance what so ever.
we are to arrogant, ignorant, greedy and most importantly we for the most part only think of destruction. History has shown that no matter what we do, it always come back to the same thing. Our times are no different we will eventually end up in what I call the perfect storm where everything just falls in it's place and human kind as we now it will just demolish itself. There are just to many things going on at the same time, that just makes it impossible according to the laws of nature. When I say that, I also mean within and out of our country, I will give you an exanple that as of today still baffles me more than the Loony's in the middle east, and that is Timothy Mcvey. For some reason that event left me in complete darkness, and it has for some reason been thrown unde the carpet. I have attempted to fiqure it out but I always come to a dead end, and all I wonder is why?
Yup, fear. The most dangerous emotion. Is it possible that a fanatic fears a loss of control? An open mind can be a very dangerous thing.
Interesting article Qwark! Quite intense expressions. Indeed fanaticism of any kind one has to be careful about.
But on the other hand one has to also be careful that people use now a days word fanatic too often to generate hate against people with opposite type of view, in quite unreasonable manner. One has to be also careful that hate against fanaticism also can also make a person himself fanatic. Observing a behavior and protecting or being careful against any extreme behavior may be much better way.
Q,
My 11th rade Social Studies - (boy rhat sure puts a dated hint to my age)- He Said to remember... "Beware Zealots"- I saw him at my sons baseball game and I said HI and Pulled him in and said.. "Beware Zealots". He looked grinned and laughed. I believe there is a big difference between- believers and zealots- fans and zealots...knowing where the line is and NOT to cross it is KEY... cant wait to read more but its late cya soon...

A memorable quote:
"Until man can permanently rid himself of aboriginal ignorance, fanaticism will always find a fertile place within which to develop, be nurtured and survive.”
